What is a spark?
A like is called a spark at embla. It always refers to a specific sentence or photo and you tap it instead of swiping. Whoever sparks you shows up in your “Sparks” tab, and that is free: no subscription needed.
When does embla launch and how will I know?
The launch happens worldwide at the same time. Everyone on the waitlist gets an email on launch day, plus 6 months of embla+ for free.
How does verification work?
Every profile goes through a selfie check before it becomes visible at all. That is how we make sure the photos belong to the person. At embla verification is the standard, not a paid extra.
Do you swipe on embla?
No. Instead of an endless profile feed there is one question a day. You see how others answered it and react to a specific sentence rather than to a photo.
What can I do with a sentence on the sofra?
Three things, and each of them takes the person off the table. The spark is a tap with no words and belongs to exactly that sentence; after it you only see the person again once they have reacted. The X sets them aside; you won't see them for 21 days, and after that they can come up again as someone new. And the reply spark is a short text about their sentence that lands straight in their chat without a match: if they write back, you are connected. Eight people sit at your table. With embla+ the next one moves up after every decision, up to 100 a day; without embla+ the day is over once the table is empty.
Can the embla team write to me?
Yes, and only the team can: for a report or a question you get a chat from the embla team, at the top of your Embers. You can mute it. Advertising or purchase prompts never arrive there.
Can you buy more visibility?
A visible highlight, no: there is no spotlight, for anyone. What does exist is the wildfire, and we say plainly what it does: it puts today's sentence of yours earlier in the order for everyone who would see it anyway. Nobody can tell that you used one, it only counts for that single day, and you can earn one instead of buying it. Five sparks a day, all visibility levels and incognito mode are free for everyone. Also not for sale: access to the people who spark you, and more than eight people at the table at once. Those eight seats apply with embla+ too, because they are not a product but a nudge to decide.
How do I delete my account?
Directly in the app: Settings → Delete account. This deletes your profile, photos, and messages. Alternatively, an informal email to hello@embla-app.com is enough.
How do I report or block someone?
On every profile and in every chat, the menu offers “Report” and “Block”. We review reports promptly; blocks take effect immediately in both directions.
What happens to my data?
Your data stays in Europe, is never sold, and there is no ad tracking. All details are in the privacy policy.
How much does embla cost?
The core features are free: all visibility levels, incognito mode, the “Sparks” tab and your search circle of radius, age and language. Eight people sit at your sofra, with embla+ or without; free every day are five sparks and one reply spark. embla+ lets the next person move up after every decision, up to 100 a day, and adds unlimited sparks, five reply sparks a day, the finer search by heritage, intention, religion, wish for children and minimum height, bringing back who you set aside, seeing people at your destination before you arrive, five travel windows at once and the badge; it costs €8.99 a month, €19.99 for three months or €32.99 for six, less in Albania and Kosovo. There are also spark packs (ten for €1.99, thirty for €4.99), reply spark packs (three for €1.99, ten for €4.99), the day pass for €1.99, which buys that moving up for a day, and the wildfire for €3.99 (five for €9.99). Everyone who joined the waitlist gets 6 months of embla+ free. A visible highlight is not for sale on embla: no spotlight, for anyone.
